Can I Hire a Bouncy Castle on Artificial Grass or Concrete?

At Brentwood Bouncy Castle Hire, safety is at the heart of everything we do. When it comes to where our inflatables can be set up, surface type plays a crucial role. Here’s what you need to know before booking a bouncy castle for artificial grass, concrete, or other hard surfaces.

Hiring a Bouncy Castle on Artificial Grass

Yes, you can book a bouncy castle on artificial grass—provided it has a real soil base underneath. This is essential because our inflatables must be anchored using ground stakes. Pegs are driven into the soil to secure the equipment, and this may result in small holes left in the artificial layer. If you are not comfortable with this, we recommend rethinking your booking.

We cannot accept responsibility for any damage caused to artificial grass or lawns during anchoring. Ensuring the safety of your guests is our top priority, and a secure setup is essential to achieve that.

Can Bouncy Castles Be Installed on Concrete?

While technically possible, we are not currently offering bouncy castle installation on concrete. To do this safely, our team would need to drill 10mm holes into the surface to bolt the inflatable securely. These holes can be filled afterward, but the process does leave a permanent mark. Due to safety and practical concerns, we have paused this service.

A video is available below demonstrating how the setup works for those interested in learning more about this method.

Surfaces We Cannot Install On

We do not install bouncy castles on patio slabs, block paving, tarmac, or with the use of sandbags. These surfaces cannot provide the anchoring force required to keep our inflatables stable.

For example, each anchor point must resist a force of at least 163kg. Even our smallest bouncy castle includes six anchor points, meaning over 50 sandbags would be required—well beyond the capacity of our vans and completely impractical.

Likewise, block paving and slabs are not structurally stable enough to support the force of pegs or bolts, and tarmac is too soft to hold a fixing securely.

Soft Play and Other Alternatives

If you’re working with a surface that isn’t suitable for outdoor bouncy castles, we recommend considering our soft play hire. These colourful and safe play zones are perfect for toddlers and can be set up on patios, block paving, and even indoors.
